Long Game Career Coaching

Career Coach in Portland, Oregon

Portland, Oregon · In person and by video

A Portland career coach who has run the plays

Most career coaches can tell you what a good resume looks like. Fewer have sat on both sides of the hiring table inside big, fast-moving companies.

I'm Mike Leighty, founder and head coach of Long Game Career Coaching. I led Cisco's Fast Track program. At Adobe, I led global sales contact center operations through the shift to subscription as the business grew from $200M to $2B. At Nike, I led Scaled Analytics Portfolio Management, helping move a 400-plus person organization to a product-based operating model.

I've also been laid off more than once. I know the gut punch, and I know the climb back.

Who I work with in Portland

Long Game is built for people who take their careers seriously and want a coach who talks straight. That usually means:

  • Professionals hit by a layoff who need a plan this week, not next quarter
  • Managers and senior leaders aiming for Director or VP roles
  • People changing industry or function, or weighing the jump from corporate to founder
  • Anyone stuck, restless or quietly unhappy who wants an honest outside view

Portland has its own rhythm: big brands, a deep tech and outdoor industry bench, and a lot of people who know each other. Your search should use that, not ignore it.

How coaching works

We start with a free 20-minute intro call. No pitch deck, no pressure. You tell me where you are, I tell you honestly whether I can help.

From there, you pick the pace that fits:

  • Training Camp ($1,500): a focused, short-term intensive for a layoff, an active search or a role transition. Founding Member Training Camp is $1,200 for the first 25 clients.
  • Career Conditioning membership: Base ($79/mo) for group coaching, Build ($249/mo) for a monthly 1:1 plus group, and Peak ($599/mo) for more frequent 1:1 sessions plus interview, offer and negotiation support.

Think of Training Camp as a hard push up the hill, and Conditioning as the long-term training that keeps you ready for whatever comes next.

In person in Portland, or by video anywhere

Sessions happen in person in Portland or by video. Many clients mix both: a face-to-face kickoff, then video check-ins that fit around work, kids and life.

What you'll walk away with

  • A clear target: role, level and the kinds of companies worth your time
  • A story that holds up in a recruiter screen and a final-round panel
  • A weekly game plan you can actually run
  • Someone in your corner who tells you the truth

A few ground rules so expectations are clear: coaching is not therapy, legal advice or financial advice, and no honest coach can guarantee you a job. What I can promise is a straight read, a real plan and steady work alongside you.
